The planned stage setting for Malena Ernman‘s performance at the Eurovision Song Contest has been unveiled. The stage will be turned into a Narnia themed set, and Malena will assume the role of a Nordic Ice Queen whilst performing ‘La Voix’. Ice blocks will surround her and the performers on stage. And the mixed gender backing dancers with theatrical masks will be replaced  by an all female line up. Five ladies will be dressed as dark valkyries, and will all provide backing vocals too.

Apparently, the song will be slightly tweaked as well. Fredrik Kempe is working at the moment on making the verses a bit beefier, and giving the backing vocals a more commercial pop sound, and less of an operatic requirement. The operatics will be left to Malena – the master of the genre!

It’s certainly looking like we’re all in for a spectacular performance when Malena heads to Eurovision anyway!

In other Malena news; she’ll be a releasing a double album in July. One CD will be of her singing opera classics, and the second CD will be of brand new pop/opera tracks in the same vein as ‘La Voix’. Fredrik Kempe is currently writing for the project! A whole disc full of variations on ‘La Voix’ sounds like bliss to us! Bring it on
