Swedish sister duo First Aid Kit have today released their new single and video ‘Cedar Lane’ – the second track to be taken from June 10th’s album release ‘Stay Gold’.
Straight away, from the first line of the first verse, it’s the familiar and inimitable sound of First Aid Kit. And that’s in terms of both their Americana influenced rootsy folk music, and their impossibly mature vocals delivering lush harmonies. ‘Cedar Lane’ starts off as a slow and meandering folk trip, but then turns into an epic torch song that’s anchored by a “how could I break away from you” line that’s put on a loop, before the song dies down like the last ambers of the camp fire that these girls have evidently just been singing around. It’s a bit gorgeous, this.
