Norwegian duo, Eva & The Heartmaker unleash their new album ‘Dominoes’ next month. And our interest has officially been piqued, firstly because they’re now using a glitterball in their promo shots, and secondly because their new single ‘Signals’ is quite clearly a raging good pop tune.
We must confess that they’ve never been quite our bag before, as they veered a little bit too far towards indie seriousness for our liking (a direction which has earned them hoards of fans though). But ‘Signals’ is the kind of pop delight that fits right up our often too narrow, neon, one-way street. It’s a little bit like Le Kid and another little bit like Alphabeat. But a softer electro version of both. Production and melody-wise, it’s top notch. And it’s very sweet too. Not just her charmingly fragile vocal delivery, but the message in the lyrics – “you never have to be alone, because I’m your radio”. We like that sentiment!
