Last night Norway held its annual Melodi Grand Prix, and chose its entry to this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. They went with ‘Icebreaker’, by Agnete.
A good choice, it sounds like two very good songs mixed together. We thought that perhaps the differences between the verse and chorus might be a bit too jarring (it certainly is for us, even after repeated listens), but obviously that wasn’t an issue for most people. It won with almost double the vote of the runner-up (166,000 votes to 88,000). So things bode well for a good result for Norway in Stockholm in May.
You can watch the performances of all 10 songs over on NRK’s YouTube channel.
