Erik Segerstedt has this week released a brand new single, ahead of his Melodifestivalen participation next month.

It’s ‘Meaning’, and it’s a world away from the sound of his Melodifestivalen entry with Tone Damli, ‘Hello Goodbye’. Whereas that’s a catchy, mid-tempo, guitar pop number, this is a stripped back, down-tempo, melancholic, piano soul track. Industrial and stark, yet oddly warming in both its lyric and vocal harmonies. Not our favourite thing he’s ever done, but certainly his most interesting output.

Listen to it below. On good speakers or headphones, to do it proper justice. And do give it more than one listen to – it comes into its own then.

‘Meaning’ was released on Wednesday, and it’s out on iTunes worldwide.
