What’s this? The debut EP from Swedish singing and songwriting talent SYLVE. ‘Dö Lycklig’.
What’s on it? Four previously released singles plus one brand-new track – the title track ‘Dö Lycklig’.
What’s the EP like? SYLVE has long been crafting excellent pop tunes for other artists, but it’s splendid to finally have his debut collection of songs that he’s penned all for himself. On it, we have two beautifully written ballads ‘Bättre Förr’ and ‘Två’ – both of which really hammer home his gift for composing a great melody. ‘För Sent Att Säga’ finds him borrow from the ’80s-inspired synthpop trend to present his songwriting in a new way, and in turn give us listeners a new way to enjoy that sound. And ‘Jag Kan Inte Låta Bli’ ends the EP on a welcome upbeat note (sonically, at least) after the three preceding songs’ more serious tone.
And what’s the new single like? “Even if I die now, well – I’d die happy“. And so accompanies that lyric a song that’s fittingly joyful. The happiest he’s sounded on a track, the final piece slotted into his first EP, and the tune that he can take with him into the summer. We reckon we’ll join him in doing just that.
