What’s this? Danish artist Mags has been impressing us enormously recently, what with the release of two splendid singles – ‘I Can’t Get Over You‘ and ‘As Long As We’re Both Breathing‘. And now she’s just come out with the accompanying EP, ‘Happimess’.
Happimess? That is correct. Not ‘Happiness’, ‘Happimess’.
That’s….that’s a really good title. Well it’s a really good EP.
Anything on it as good as the singles? Oh yes. The title track is up there with those two magnificent pop beasts, offering listeners a joyful bubblegum tune to bounce around to, while at the same time – as the title might suggest – giving us a deeper delve into the artist’s story.
Any other highlights? On first listen, we’re also big fans of ‘Am I In Love?’. It’s the EP’s lowest-in-tempo song, without compromising on the bop standard of the EP. This song serves up a nice flashback to the pop of yesteryear in its production.
What does Mags way? “When I write songs, it feels like I’m taking back the power over some emotions that I can’t control. I can’t control what happens in my love life, but I can control the narrative inside me. So that’s what I do in my music.”
