Swedish electropop dream, Emmon, is all ready to unleash her next album, ’Nomme’. And with that comes its first single of course – the rather splendid ‘Distance’!
‘Distance’ is a super cool cut. We all know that Swedish ladies make some of the most palatable electropop around, and this is a prime example. For ‘Distance’, Emmon has gone down the manic and up-tempo route, rather than something more laidback and dreamy. It’s an unrelenting explosion of synths and drum beats, coming together to create one of those electric blankets that were quite fancy in the 80’s (a time analogy that we feel is quite fitting in this instance) which wraps up Emmon’s half despairing and half resigned vocals. It’s an instantly addictive track which you realise you like after only one chorus.
Below you can have a listen, and also lose yourself in the fab video which accompanies the single. It’s all very film noir, one which has had its film reel dipped in acid.
