Some pop music from Iceland now – a country that we feature FAR too infrequently on this website. Come on, good folk of Iceland, keep up with your Nordic neighbours and get into that studio.
This tune in question is ‘Hring Eftir Hring’ (Round and Round) by Elín Lovísa.
It’s a deep and dirty dancepop track, punctuated with large bass and minimalist synths. The fact that it’s performed in Icelandic adds an attractive air of novelty and mystery – unless of course you speak Icelandic, that is. In which case you know exactly what the lovely Elín is trilling on about. We particularly enjoy the part when it sounds like the sweet young girl pictured above sings “FUCKING” in a very angry and frustrated manner. This is pop music – we find enjoyment with it on many different levels, you see.
It’s Elín Lovísa’s boxfresh debut single. Produced by Icelandic production team ReddLights, and written by Alma from Icelandic girlband The Charlies, of whom Elín’s sister Klara is also a member.
