The finalists of the current series of Swedish Idol have this week released a charity single – with the most touching of twists. It’s been released as a duet with Edvin Berg, an 18 year old Swedish boy who had wanted to audition for Idol, but who tragically died of cancer in August this year before he had ever had the chance to.

‘I Will Be Here’ is a song that he had previously recorded, and since his passing it was brought to the attention of Idol judge Laile Bagge Wahlgren. She decided to release it as a single along with the current crop of Swedish Idol contestants. It’s a heartfelt ballad, one which hits the spot and drives home the cause behind it.

Watch the Idols giving a performance of ‘I Will Be Here’ at last night’s fundraising gala Tillsammans Mot Cancer below. The song starts at 2:53.

And you can listen to the studio recording here.

‘I Will Be Here’ is out now on Swedish iTunes and Spotify, and all proceeds go towards the Cancerfonden cause.
