One of the 2012’s most successful Swedish pop debutantes showed up on Nyhetsmorgon earlier today, and performed a trinity of tracks from his brand new album.

Melodifestivalen 2012’s surprise success story has gone on to prove his detractors (ourselves included) wrong, by going and showing that his schlager hit ‘Shout It Out’s popularity was no fluke. A few weeks back his debut album ‘Get Started’ went straight in at number 1 on the Swedish album chart. Sweden does indeed like this chap. A lot!
And said album is a spiffing collection of pop dance tunes, at that – so worthy of the chart topping accolade. In truth, it’s the songs that we find the star of the project, rather than David itself. We’re still searching for a personality when it comes to him. But then we’re obviously completely missing the point somewhere down the line. That gripe aside, it’s a thoroughly enjoyable album if you like your pop music and your dance music. So job done.
David gets bonus points from us this morning in his choices of songs to perform – he did our two favourite tracks from the album, ‘Perfect Crime’ and ‘Rendezvous’. And ‘Shout It Out’ too – which we’re actually enjoying a lot more now, out of the context of Melodifestivalen. As a standalone song, it’s a no from us. But as a part of the ‘Get Started’ album experience, it’s a jolly great yes. And no, we don’t know why that is either.
