Here you have ‘Ring Den Alarm’ (we don’t think we need to translate that one for you) – the debut single and video from Denmark’s latest pop sensation Cisilia.
Latest pop sensation or latest r&b sensation – whichever way you want to define ‘Ring Den Alarm’. To our ears however, it’s a playful pop tune, dressed up deceptively as a more urban edged jam. Genre straddling, if you will. She delivers a tongue in cheek performance that manages to stay in your head after one listen. And it echoes ever so slightly back to the 90s. Which is going to be a nice element of the listen, if you’re of a certain age.
We don’t know all that much about Cisilia. Other than that she’s Danish to Moroccan and Macedonian parents, this is her debut single, another single will arrive later in the year, and then her first album will come out in 2015.
