One of THE highlights of Saturday night’s Melodifestivalen final, was undoubtedly the appearance of her royal highness of schlager, Carola. She performed the second interval act. A brand new version of her hit single ‘Främling’, celebrating the 30 year landmark since it won Melodifestivalen itself and launched her career.
And what a version it was. Who knew that after about seemingly half a decade of all this Elvis & Barbara dicking around, she had the gumption to come out and do a full on dance version of the song. Kudos to you Carola – you may not show it at all times, but deep down you really do know your audience.
It was a fantastic moment. Not just hearing the new version, or seeing the Glamazon herself strut about to it on stage with the obligatory wind machine, but also the ending which saw her joined in the performance by 28,000 people in Friends Arena singing along acapella. Twenty. Eight. Thousand. People.
