Two pretty mind blowing videos of ‘Call Your Girlfriend’ by Robyn, both cropped up online yesterday. We watched, we adored, and then we realised that we love the fact that the song is still able to rock us to our core one year later!
Firstly it was the lady herself, making an appearance on Ellen’s TV show in America. She does seem to do the vast majority of her television performances in America over anywhere else in the world, doesn’t she?! But that’s not the point. The point is the performance itself. We all know by now that Robyn can always produce the WOW factor when she gets on stage, but still we found ourselves in jaw-dropped disbelief at what she was getting up to during that performance. Somehow, despite singing completely live (and not missing a single note, at that), she managed to incorporate a large chunk of the choreography from THAT video. And we may have watched THAT video dozens of time already, but the moves she was pulling still managed to completely bowl us over. Obviously, as Ellen agreed at the end of the performance, the back flip was totally the best bit!
There’s no need to to instruct you to watch this until the end, because you won’t be able to take your eyes of it anyway;
Secondly, there was the video below. A three piece vocal harmony group from Sweden, called Erato, uploaded their cover of the song to YouTube. And it wasn’t so much the singing that got our attention and that has caused the video to quickly go ‘viral’ (although the singing IS still fantastic). It’s more the totally in sync beats that they’re making on three plastic food containers – while just sat around their kitchen table. Again, as with the above video, we just couldn’t take our eyes off it!
Amazing;
