Annie’s mounted her soapbox for her latest single. It’s called ‘Russian Kiss’, and was released today worldwide, to mark the opening of the Winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Not to celebrate them though, but rather to take a stand against a couple of things. Mainly Vladimir Putin’s well publicised stance on gay rights – in that he doesn’t believe in them. But also she’s sticking the knife in closer to home too, in her native Norway. “In Norway, the political leadership has rejected calls to remain at home. This could have been an occasion for Norway to stand up for the fundamental right to express your feelings towards the one you love.” And so where Norway has failed, Annie has stepped in to right the wrong. She’s crafted the song ‘Russian Kiss’ along with Bjarne Melgaard, and with longtime collaborator Richard X on production duties.

It’s a (in typical Annie and Richard X style) pulsating electro track which starts off as a bit of a raver, before slowing down to allow a chant, and then breaking down altogether to showcase some sexual moans and grunts. Then it goes back to being a rave again. And we’re all for a legitimate excuse to be pro-gay AND dance at the same time.

She’s also made an eye catching video for the song, which you can watch below. Directed by Richard Kern. Contains flesh and tongue.

‘Russian Kiss’ is out now, worldwide. All proceeds will go towards the LGBT charity All Out.
