Well HELLO there Andreas Johnson and your new single, ’One Man Army’!
He’s started off 2011 with the best single he’s put out in quite some time – and we include last year’s Melodifestivalen entry, ‘We Can Work It Out’ in that summing up too. While we liked that for its laidback and atmospheric juxtaposition of sadness and hope, we REALLY like this for its uplifting and rousing message of promise and love. The instrumentation is gorgeous, the production of said instrumentation is gorgeous, and his vocal delivery tops it off splendidly too. If you want a comparison, we’d say it could possibly fit in as the missing link between Take That’s ‘Progress’ and Coldplay’s ‘X & Y’. It’s certainly his most realistic chance of recapturing some of that international success he enjoyed over a decade ago. This isn’t normally the type of music we listen to a lot of course (favouring female fronted, synth flavoured, dance orientated pop!), but when we do listen to it, we want it to sound like this!
