Swedish dance music is in a funny sort of a funk at the moment. There’s a lot of it around. And there’s a lot of good stuff. But there’s not a lot of really great stuff unfortunately. Actually, to put it another way – there’s not a lot of stuff around that makes us want to feature it on here. It seems like we’re veering more and more towards wanting our dance music to sound like pop music. And all the rest is just blending into at best – one monotonous, Avicii-esque synth, and at worst – just noise. Oh dear.
Anyway. One of the very good ones was released today, via trusty Swedish dance label Uniform Beat (who’ve already this year given us the Scandipop featured likes of Smith & Thell, We Are Legends, Goldfinger & Script, and Molitor). The latest shining gem in their repertoire is ‘Big Big World’, by Andalo & Blucker featuring the fantastic vocals of Jarell Perry.
This one sounds a lot like it could be a new Ne-Yo single – but actually much better than THE new Ne-Yo single. It also sounds like the older brother to Eric Saade’s new single, ‘Marching’ (In The Name Of Love)’. You know – the older brother that gets invited to cooler parties and stuff. So yes – this is one of the those type of dance tunes that we mention above, in that it sounds a great deal like pop music. That probably wasn’t Andalo & Blucker’s intention though, but it’s what we’re hearing anyway.
Anyway. Yeah, this is pretty amaze. And was released today worldwide.
