TOMORROW Amanda Fondell releases her first ‘proper’ album (ie not including the covers album she released a few weeks after winning Swedish Idol a few years ago) titled ‘Because I Am’. TODAY she appeared on Nyhetsmorgon to perform her brand new single ‘You Got My Life’.
It’s a big pop number, mercifully. In it, she embraces the strong synth and the slight rave. It’s the sound of Amanda Fondell getting her dancepop on for – like – the first time ever. But obvs it’s not the kind of dancepop anyone else is doing. It’s dancepop on Amanda’s own terms, and with her own artistic slant on it.
Of note: the middle eight and the outro contain lyrics in the same nonsensical language that first made an appearance in Amanda’s ‘Let The Rain Fall’. And we love it.
Speaking of ‘Let The Rain Fall’, we’re a bit FUMING to learn that most of Amanda’s old singles won’t be included on ‘Because I Am’. It’s a nine track album that leaves off the hits. And to be honest, that exasperates us so much, we’d rather not even talk about it. So let’s move on.
