Amanda Fondell yesterday premiered her brand new single on Swedish radio station P3. It’s called ‘Let The Rain Fall’ and you can listen to it below.
The curious case of Amanda Fondell. She went from triumphant Idol winner to embarrassing Melodifestivalen flop in the space of less than 18 months. And in between that landmark and landmine of her career, released an absolutely brilliant single by the name of ‘Bastard‘. And now we witness Amanda attempting to rise from the ashes of that Melodifestivalen car crash (which, as it happens, she didn’t deserve – yes the song was an utter turd, but we all know she’s better than that, and it was an atrocious decision at the hands of her team to allow her to compete with it).
‘Let The Rain Fall’ perhaps isn’t as instant as the career saving hit of a popstar might need to be. But don’t let that fool you – because it IS quite amazing. It’s not cheeky like ‘Bastard’, and nor is it shrieky like ‘Dumb’. It’s just very sweety. A summer tinged production that has Amanda trilling of her loving feelings in an innocent fashion, like the young teenager she really is. It’s an infectious sweetness that gets better with repeated listens.
Plus it does contain the lyric “it made my heart go boom zaka numa zaka yeah“. And you can’t really argue with that. Well, you can – but you’d be wrong.
‘Let The Rain Fall’ is released next week in Sweden. No word yet on an album, but we’re waiting. Impatiently.
