Amazing! Last night’s Allsång På Skansen was an absolute schlager fest – thanks largely to the presence of Magnus Carlsson and Charlotte Perrelli camping it up with an astonishingly delightful medley of ‘wedding related’ songs! Amongst the medley, was our new anthem ‘En S’ån Karl’ (which we wrote a lot about last week), an old classic that was recently covered marvellously on the first Scotts album, ‘Det Börja Verka Kärlek Banne Mig’, and a glorious finale of Lena Philipsson’s ‘Kärleken Är Evig’.
The pair continued the wedding theme, by performing the song that they released especially for the royal wedding earlier this summer, ‘Mitt Livs Gemål’. They then performed the song ‘Tillägnan’, to what looked like was actually a live wedding taking place!
Also on the bill was newcomer Tove Styrke, with her debut single ‘Million Pieces’ and its first tv appearance. She was runner up in last year’s Idol show, so we’ve been waiting for her first single with interest. But we’ve been underwhelmed so far unfortunately, and the song hasn’t grown on us at all. The live performance certainly adds a bit of charm, but we’re still not a fan. We seem to be in the minority though, and the song is just outside the top ten on Swedish iTunes after last night’s show.
Two more songs worth checking out from last night’s shenanigans are Orup doing a cover of the song he wrote for Lena Philipsson, ‘Det Gör Ont’, just for the quite nice novelty value of the situation really. And also the perennially fascinating Hanna Lindblad singing an AMAZING, crazy, and uber camp cover of ‘I Wanna Be Loved By You’, with Swedish and English lyrics.
