It’s….been a while, hasn’t it? Four years since her last album was released. But after a shelved record, going back to the drawing board, and a few delays along the way, Sweden’s premier global popstar Zara Larsson is today out with her second international album – ‘Poster Girl’.
What’s on it? Well it’s an album so good, that some of the singles she’s already released had to be cut to make way for all the excellent new tunes. So we say goodbye to ‘Don’t Worry Bout Me’ and ‘All The Time’, we get reacquainted with ‘WOW’, ‘Love Me Land’, ‘Talk About Love’ and a very old friend, ‘Ruin My Life’, AND we say hello to eight brand-new tracks.
What are the new tracks like? She’s embraced both sides of her musical leanings – the pure pop and the r&b – and delivered a prime bunch of tracks in both genres. The end result is dual-faceted album that thus never gets boring and allows each song to flourish from its position as sounding like something different to the last.
Highlights? Well last week’s preview track – ‘Look What You’ve Done’ – was chosen as the preview for a reason. That reason being that it’s one of the best things she’s ever done. Title track ‘Poster Girl’ is a fun journey back to a ’90s block party that’s having a ’70s disco night. She’s cited ‘Need Someone’ as her own personal fave, and it’s easy to see why – it has the strength in it to become one of her trademark songs if given the chance. And finally FFF is doing amazing things sonically in a league of its own – both in terms of this album and her past output.
FFF? Falling For a Friend.
Gotcha. We hope that Zara and her team aren’t shy in mining this album for future singles. It’s rammed with ’em!
