What’s this? Lady Lena Philipsson is out with a brand-new album today! ‘Maria Magdalena’, for your listening pleasure. And what a pleasure it is.
What’s on it? The four singles released thus far this era (including the exceptional ‘Maria Magdalena’ and ‘En Stilla Depression’), plus six brand-new songs.
Highlights? Without a doubt the incredible ‘Lära Så Länge Man Lever’, on which Lena delivers a track that could well have come from Alcazar’s ‘Alcazarised’ album in 2003. Or indeed, served as a follow-up single to ‘It Hurts’ for the artist herself in 2004.
What else is good? We love the contemporary disco stylings she delves in to on her ode to the Swedish capital, ‘Stockholm’, and we also love ‘Han Går På Vatten’, on which she goes all ‘Rescue Me’ by Madonna on us. Plus, the album’s closer, ‘Är Det För Sent’ is a beautiful torch song which she sings with full power.
Sounds good! Sounds excellent, to be more precise. She’s an artist that has stood the test of time – and a legend still very much in her prime.

You can find ‘Lära Så Länge Man Lever’ on our Best New Pop playlist.
