His debut? Whatever gave you that impression?! Yes – ‘Volume 1’ is the debut album from Swedish X Factor graduate Isak Danielson. It follows his most recent single ‘Falling Into You’.
What’s it like? A six track collection that is seemingly tailored specifically to showcase what we believe to be one of the best male voices in Scandinavian pop music. It’s a mixture of soulful ballads, with a couple of acoustic folk pop romps thrown in for good measure.
Best tracks? Even though it works very well as a cohesive EP, there is one definite standout. ‘Ending’. An epic ballad with a stunning melody. Such an incredible listen. Another highlight is ‘Losing You’, which is already picking up radio adds in Sweden. And also check out ‘Backing Down’.
There’s something missing here though, isn’t there? There is unfortunately. His debut single ‘Long Live This Love’. He released it through Zara Larsson’s record label – Ten Music – but no longer seems to be with them, as ‘Volume 1’ is his own independent release. So that explains its exclusion. Still, it would’ve been nice had he re-recorded it.
