Icelandic artist BRÍET has just debuted with this tremendous introduction to her talents. Her debut EP released over the weekend, 22.03.99. It features three tracks – four, if you include the first song, which is essentially an extended intro to her debut single ‘In Too Deep’. Ah yes – the incredible ‘In Too Deep’. Don’t be fooled by the low-key and down-beat tone of the song – it’s a real earworm of a track, particularly that guitar element of the chorus, and culminating in a gorgeous string-laden outro (which influences the aforementioned EP intro). Then there is ‘Ghosts’ – an r&b flavoured, ice-cool, synthpop track. And perhaps the most intriguing song of the lot – ‘Twin’. Intriguing because it’s up there in terms of quality with ‘In Too Deep’, but shows a completely different side to her (a more up-tempo, poptastic side). Proving that there is probably a LOT more to come from this artist.
