It feels right that Benjamin Ingrosso is cementing what’s most certainly coming across as his imperial phase right now. And so the Swedish artist releases ‘Pink Velvet Theatre’ – his fifth album to date.

As the title alludes to, we’ve got bags of sonic drama served up for our entertainment. And it’s an album like few others you’ll have heard in your lifetime. More than a collection of songs, it’s a retro-hued trip back to Benjamin’s childhood and the music that has influenced the phenomenal artist he is today. We’ve mentioned ABBA in articles on this site about his most recent singles, but we’re also hearing elements of Queen and Elton John now that the full album is blasting out loud in full. In short – he’s playing up there with the very best.

‘Pink Velvet Theatre’ bestows onto us four brand-new tracks, as well as the five singles we’ve all been hammering throughout 2024. Plus, there are plenty of well-placed interludes – and an intro and outro – to afford the songs the ceremonious surroundings that they deserve.

Do we have any favourites out of the new tracks? Oh you know we do. ‘Angela’ – she’s THAT girl. And ‘Back To You’ – it’s THAT bop. They could well have been singles themselves. But he’s been a busy man this year. And this album serves as the crowning glory that he’s worked so hard far. ‘Pink Velvet Theatre’ is the star-making LP he’s had in him for a while now. He deserves so many millions more ears on him around the world, quite frankly. But for those of us lucky enough to be tuning into him so early in what’s set to be an illustrious career for him – how lucky are we to be able to say that we were here right now?!
