Here’s something a teensy bit different to what we normally feature on here, sonically anyway. ‘Även Om’ by young Swedish up-and-comer Albin Johnsén.
The single’s been out for a month or so now, and we’ve been listening to it occasionally without ever really falling for it all THAT much. Until now anyway. Once it beds in, it’s just the sweetest of songs. The very definition of ‘Easy Listening’, in that it’s such a pleasant song to have playing – whether it be something that you’ve put on with sole focus of checking it out (which we’d advise you do right now), or it’s just something that’s on in the background.
Primarily that’s down to the melody of the chorus, which is performed by Rasmus Ingdahl, rather than Albin. Instead, Albin provides the rap (and the songwriting, along with Niklas Jarl, Jessika Jarl, and Frank Nobel). And yeah – it’s not often we write about a rap song on here really , is it? But the whole things works so well because of the combination of both. The melody of the chorus providing an atmospheric instrumental background to the rapped verses.
It’s a bit gorgeous. And below you can watch the vid, featuring the also quite gorgeous Albin.
An aisde: we understand that he may be working with Mattias Andreassen quite a bit.
‘Även Om’ is out now and has been released outside of Sweden too.
