Slap bang at the top of the list of things you never thought you would see or hear, must be an acoustic version of Adelén’s sublime/ridiculous ‘Bombo’, right?
Well it happened. A few weeks ago on Norwegian morning television, Adelén took to the studio stage alongside a sole guitarist, and belted out the song we all know and love as ‘Bombo’. But not as we know and love it. Instead, she performed it as a ballad. An epic, melodic, love song. And it was ph’nom.
Biggest surprise of all though, was the revelation that was her voice. The girl can sing! No tee, no shade, but THAT Melodi Grand Prix performance (both of them, in fact) was vocally a hot mess of boiling proportions. We wondered if she’d been chosen to front the song only because of her (immensely impressive) looks and legs. But no. This acoustic performance more than proves that she can cut it as a singer too. Which, we suppose, was probably the whole point.
One month until Eurovision, and this has been a bigger hit in Norway than the song it lost to at Melodi Grand Prix. Three weeks at number 1 on the official singles chart.
