We do like a new girlband to get to know. Particularly when they’re Swedish.
Here’s a new one, in the very beginnings of their career – Rock The Sexy (what a name!). The Europopped blog turned us onto these girls this morning. Five Swedish ladies who are putting the finishing touches to their debut album. But already we can take a listen to some of what they’ve been up to.
The first single is going to be ‘Dirty Disco Freak’. A pop song that sounds exactly like you would expect it to, with a title like that – except it’s surprisingly interspersed with a sample from Snap’s ‘Rhythm Is A Dancer’. It sounds promising from the teaser below, and definitely right up our street!
They’ve also uploaded two of their tracks in full to their YouTube channel. Most recent upload is ‘Lipstick’, an r&b tinged pop tune that sort of goes over your head on first listen. But after a couple of plays, the sexy synth production leaves a welcome impression. It could do without the male rent-a-rapper though – “you make a supermodel look trashy” and “google you for more info” being two of his ‘choice’ quotes.
Then there’s ‘Funk Me’ from late last year – a latin flavoured track that relies mostly on the fact that “funk me” sounds like “fuck me“. Yep, we’re sold!
More please.
