Amy Diamond has a new single out, called ‘Connected’. It’s monumentally terrible. Which is heartbreaking when you listen to her back catalogue and realise that EVERYTHING she has ever released has been amazing at best, good at worst. ‘Connected’ sounds like something that you imagine Amy would be releasing in five years time with the intention of being viewed as a more serious artist, even though it’s very much still pop. It’s just bad pop. It sounds like a song that was nowhere near good enough to be included on the last Aly & AJ album. What a shame.
Thankfully though, she’s rumoured to be in next year’s Melodifestivalen, and SVT rarely allow awful songs to be submitted. So it shouldn’t be too long before she’s back on form. For now, we’ll just carry on playing her classics like ‘Thank You’, ‘Life’s What You Make It’ and ‘Stay My Baby’ at scandipop.
