paupau

We stumbled across a brand new Swedish electropop siren this week – Paupau!

She’s unsigned, but has already completed three songs that she’s content enough with to play to the world. And so she’s uploaded them to her website for people to have a listen. And we’d recommend that you do.

The term Swedish electropop siren, normally evokes images of ice cool, sharp and clean examples of melodious electropop like Robyn’s ‘Dancing On My Own’, Annie’s ‘Heartbeat’, Tove Styrke’s ‘White Light Moment’, or Vanbot’s ‘Make Me Break Me’. But we think that Paupau’s intepretation (based only on these three songs of course) moves away from that tradition and incorporates a more British electroclash sound. The vocal and lyric combination is lessĀ forlornĀ and more spiked with attitude. And the beats have a jagged edge, rather than a crisp beauty.

‘Move Bitch’ is our current pick of the crop! And our eyes and ears are now officially on the look-out and listen-out for more from this lady.
