There’ve been a couple of videos that have been stirring up opinions amongst scandipop fans over the last few days on the internet. One is a mash-up of a schlager track with the latest single from the hottest new act in the world right now. The other is another schlager track being covered by a French……..we wanna say ‘artist’, but we’re not really sure what she is. We’ll let you decide that!
First up; Charlotte Perrelli vs Lady Gaga – ‘Hero Face’
Mash-ups are great, but so many have been done by now that they’ve become hit or miss. In any case, hit OR miss, these mash-ups very rarely feature the kind of schlager music that we love so much. Which makes ‘Hero Face’ something of a gem. Especially as it works SO well! Both original tracks have matching subtle verses and seratonine soaked choruses, so it makes perfect sense to put them together. And even the monumental key change of ‘Hero’ isn’t detracted from, as Lady Gaga is obviously partial to a key chage herself. This is bliss, and we’ll be playing it at the next scandipop club night.
Next up; Marcelle Alexis – ‘Invincible’
What an utterly HOT video! That’s £1.83 well spent. We can’t decide what we love more; her vocals, her garden furniture, her silver skirt, or the stone effect partition wall in her living room. We salute her for hearing Carola‘s ‘Invincible’ and realising that it’s so good, it needs translating so that the French speaking territories aren’t going without. And who better to introduce ‘Invincible’ to the French than Marcelle Alexis?!
