There’s a new moody electro pop anthem in Scandinavia. And it’s come from Denmark this time. Sitting in the top ten singles chart in Denmark for the best part of three months (and at number one for some of that time), has been ‘Kun For Mig’ by Medina. And it’s already caught on with the internet masses – it’s near 5 minute long video has notched up over 700,000 views. It’s a stylish, highly watchable, quite beautiful black and white piece – and was obviously really cheap to make too.
And what of the song? Well it’s got a string laden intro that suddenly errupts into a fast paced succession of electric beats, quickly followed by a fragile, emotional vocal in Danish. And you’re hooked from there on in really! The tempo builds throughout the verse, and what was a haunting, sparse, electro song in the same vein as Ladytron, or indeed Ladyhawke – becomes a bit of a club banger. We love it when that happens!
