We lowkey love it when an artist decides that it’s time, they’re going to do it – they’re going to launch into an electropop era for their new album. Finland’s Robin Packalen has done just that for ‘Punasel’ – his 7th album. And it’s worked out very well for him!
The album stands at 11 tracks in length, and features just three previously released songs – so there’s plenty of new gems to unearth.
The tones and tempos vary throughout, but all are anchored in that electrifying synthpop sound that takes the listener deep into ’80s-core. From the title track which opens the album, to the final ‘Amen’, it’s got the consistency and cohesion that comes with an artist being in the 12th year of their career.
