Norwegian pop icon Annie has made a surprise return to release some brand-new music. And Christ, this is a good one – even by her high standards. On ‘The Sky Is Blue’, Annie takes us on a nostalgic trip back to the early-mid ’00s. But not to the kind of top-tier electropop that she was peddling herself back then. No; instead, she’s taken influence from the kind of commercial trance that was dominating radio and music TV back in that era. She’s mixed it with her own seasoned sensibilities for Nordic pop panache – and we’ve ended up with something very special to add to her all-time repertoire.
