It’s new-album time from Norway’s Astrid S. And surprisingly, ‘Joyride’ is just album number 2 in the artist’s now decade-long career – but with a lot of high-quality EPs having made appearances along the way. Made up of 9 songs, it’s a 25-minute listening experience that’s nevertheless bursting with highlights during that short time span. From the break-up bop with a difference, ‘Howdy’, to the blissed-out anthem of adoration ‘I’m Sorry, I Love You’. There’s also the wonderfully composed Scandipop gem ‘Bloodline’, alongside the straight to the point and saucy ‘Hot Fever Dream’. Though our personal favourite – on initial impressions at least – is probably the title track ‘Joyride’. It’s perfectly pepped-up pop!
