It’s a new single from the Icelandic duo Stjórnin – made up of Sigga Beinteins and Grétar Örvars. Those old enough might remember them from their icon status-making turn at the Eurovision Song Contest in 1990, giving Iceland their best result in their first 12 years of competing – 4th place. Others not old enough to remember it first-hand might well be familiar with the song ‘Eitt Lag Enn‘ because it’s a top-tier bop that forms part of any pre-millenium Eurovision research worth its salt. Anyway, back to the present but with eyes and ears still very much focused on the past, their new single ‘Stjórnlaus’ is a sonic treat for anyone who has enjoyed their signature hit. It’s got a whopping great schlager chorus, a retro-themed production and even some epic sax – meaning there’s plenty in there to please any generation of Eurofan with good taste!
