What’s this? She’s been forging her own career as an artist in her own right for a while now, in between writing Melodifestivalen winners, Melodi Grand Prix winners, Idol winning singles, and radio airplay number 1s for other artists. And now Sweden’s Melanie Wehbe reaches a new chapter in her journey – the release of her debut EP, ‘Bloom’.
What’s on it? The three singles that we’ve had leading up to its release (‘Like I Do’, ‘All The Rest’ and ‘Bloom’), plus two brand-new tracks and an intro.
What are the new tracks like? Both are excellent additions to all our lives and further showcase Melanie’s versatility as a singer and songwriter, but while ‘Rules’ seems to be being pushed as the new single, our personal favourite is ‘Nothing Like You’. It’s a stunning, string-laden – and we don’t say this lightly – masterpiece of a song.
Highlights? ‘Like I Do’ has really stood the test of time and will end the year as one of the best songs released in 2022.
What does Melanie say?I’ve started to see life as a flower. Everyone needs time, light, freedom and nutrition to bloom but it’s also a part of life to wither sometimes along the way. To learn, maybe change paths and later blossom even stronger. That’s why I’m finally releasing my debut EP ’Bloom’. To me it’s a musical journey about finding self acceptance, one’s inner strength and dare to bloom as a person. It’s primarily written to my younger self, the scared and fragile Melanie who wanted to fit in but also realised that the path to her happiness in life was different from the norm. The EP is written to 30 year old Melanie who has realised that life goes up and down and there has to be room for all the colors such as grief, loss, confusion, happiness, mistakes, anger, challenges, lessons, setbacks, euphoria, gratitude, love, light, respect and security.
More from Melanie? At the weekend, she performed ‘Rules’ on Swedish TV show Nyhetsmorgon. And you can watch the performance right here.
