What’s this? A brand-new single and video from Finland’s Erika Vikman – her first solo release since her debut album last summer. This is ‘Kateus’.
What does that mean? Envy.
What’s it like? The kitchen-sink production sees to it that there’s not a lot that this song *isn’t* like. It’s Erika Vikman’s trademark sonic theatrics ramped up to an ear-splitting level, with a triumphant guitar solo plonked into the middle eight as a symbol of a job well done.
What does Erika say? “This song is about the importance of believing in yourself and trusting in your own power in a world dominated by jealousy, gossip, pity and back stabbers.”
Written by? The artist herself, along with Janne Rintala. Produced by Mika Laakkonen.
More from Erika? Who could forget that bonkers n’ brill duet she released with Antti Tuisku last year, ‘Huonoja Ideoita‘? Not us, that’s for sure.
