What’s this? Sweden’s Magnus Carlsson is back with a brand-new single – this is ‘Never Gonna Give You Up’.
Is it? It’s a cover of the ’80s pop classic from Rick Astley, yes.
What’s he gone and done with it? We all know that Magnus enjoys his ’80s synths and sounds more than most, but for this cover he’s actually avoided going in that direction and instead offered up a modern, chilled-house, dance-pop version of the song. A re-imagining of the song to perfectly slot into 2021’s music climate.
