Well this is an unexpected treat! We had suspected that Norwegian pop icon Annie would have taken a little time off after last year’s tremendous ‘Dark Hearts’ album. But to our delight, she’s back at it again, roping in Jake Shears to feature on her new single – ‘Neon Lights’.
What’s it like? In a word, camp. It’s very clear that everyone involved had a lot of fun making this track, resulting in a no-holds-barred celebration of the pinkest shade of neon synthpop. The joy they put into writing, producing and recording easily translates to the listener too – making ‘Neon Lights’ a proper mood-lifter of a three-minute pop song.
