What’s this? The music video for the brand-new single from Sweden’s Brother Leo. ‘Hallelujah’.
What’s it like? Up there with his best – ‘Barcelona’ – in terms of both sound and quality-wise, too. He delivers the song on a grand scale, bordering on the epic, and with lyrics that truly manage to tell a story and convey precisely what was on the artist’s mind – lyrics that let you in. The song also features a star turn from the London Gospel Choir.
What does Brother Leo say? “Even though I knew this song was special It took me years to finish it. I guess it was too associated with painful memories that I kept avoiding it. This song has forced me to deal with a lot of stuff. It’s still a process but I really believe it has helped me. ‘Hallelujah’ is about broken illusions in a broken world. It’s that moment of realisation when you know you have to make peace with something that just can’t be fixed. I wouldn’t call myself religious, but this song came out almost like a prayer. It was a cry for help in a hopeless situation. In the end religion didn’t save me, but neither did the shrink or the pills that he gave me. This song gave me an escape and some kind of peace. Like so many times before, music was the answer.”
Written by? Brother Leo himself, along with Andreas Levander, Kristofer Östergren and Fred Gibson.
More from Brother Leo? That aforementioned ‘Barcelona‘, in case you’re unlucky enough to have yet to hear it.
