What’s this? Following an appearance on the podcast Schlagervännerna (an excellent podcast on which they are currently poring over songs that were rejected for Melodifestivalen – you can find all episodes right here), Swedish duo The Lovers of Valdaro have released (just onto Soundcloud, for now) one of the songs that they submitted to Melodifestivalen 2019, and which they hoped would be their entry, ahead of what they ended up competing with. ‘Heartbreak Believers’.
What’s it like? Dreamy synthpop that is much more in line with the rest of the output that the duo have put their name to since inception. Could it have fared any better in the competition? Perhaps not. But we can’t help but feel that competing with this song would have led to an all-round more authentic experience for the boys, as it would have been a more natural fit for them.
Written by? Tobias Jonsson, Marie Rein, Paul Rein, Andreas Jismark and Erik Gabriel Høiby.
More from The Lovers of Valdaro? Post-Melodifestivalen, they followed it all up with ‘Faster To Nowhere‘. For now though, they’ve announced that they’re going on a break for a little while, but expect to return in 2020.
