What’s this? The brand-new single from Chris Kläfford – his first of 2019. This is ‘Cold At The Altar’.
What’s it like? It’s a heart-wrencher of a ballad which he wrote after the passing of his own great grandmother. The video, which you can watch below, was filmed in the same church in which her funeral was held.
What does Chris say? “Right before my great grandmother passed, one of her last wishes was for me to sing for her at her funeral. She wanted to hear the song Hallelujah. The day of the funeral I sat by my self, away from the rest of my family, preparing to sing beside my late great grandmother. I didn’t want to see the faces of my family, because I knew that I would have broken out in tears if I saw them crying. The time had come for me to sing. I stood right next to her coffin and sang for her, for the very last time. That was one of the hardest moments of my life. I couldn’t put my finger on how I was feeling. I sang for someone who wasn’t there, but in a way she was. In spirit. I know she heard me that day and I know that she hears this song. Cold at the altar is a tribute to my great grandmother.”
Written by? Chris himself, along with Isaac Koren, Thorald Koren and Johnny What, produced by BRÅVES.
