What’s happening? Tomorrow night, Iceland will choose their entry to the 2019 Eurovision Song Contest.
How did we get here? Two heats of Söngvakeppnin took place last month, and now we have five songs for tomorrow’s final.
What happens next? The five songs will be performed in the order below. Then in first round of voting, the Icelandic public and an international jury will have their points combined to come up with two songs progressing to the superfinal.
On another night?!!! No, on the same night. Icelandic viewers will then vote between those two songs, and readers, we have a winner!
Who’s in the running? Two Icelandic Eurovision legends singing two ballads, one artist singing retro-chic pop, one artist performing modern dancepop, and one group who are here to fuck shit up.
Looking at the image above, I’m guessing that’s Hatari? After four years of having to sit it out in the Eurovision semi finals, it’s time that Iceland made an impression on the contest again. And Hatari are the people for the job. We really hope that Iceland do the right thing.
And will they? We have full confidence in the Icelandic people voting for Hatari. They’ve got mammoth streaming numbers compared to the others, and are getting the lion’s share of the media coverage. It’s that pesky international jury we need to worry about. But we reckon the Icelandic support for Hatari will be great enough to override any potential upsets.
Here’s your line-up;
