What’s this? A brand new single from Norwegian artist Charlotte Qvale. The theme song for an upcoming Norwegian television show. This is ‘OSLO (Gets Cold This Time Of Year)’.
What’s it like? A melancholy tribute to the Norwegian capital, which lovingly points out many of its flaws, while implying that there is nowhere better. And all in the form of a beautifully crafted tune!
Written by? Charlotte herself, along with Silje Nordlien. Produced by Thomas Eriksen.
More on the song? Silje, the co-writer of the tracks and screenwriter of the aforementioned TV show, expands: “I live in a city, in a country, which in the winter is dominated by a melancholic landscape, and although I have been living here almost all my life, I still dream myself away when the darkness falls. The title describes the claustrophobic feeling that Oslo and the dark season seems to evoke: a kind of soul searching, the need to make sense of it all, then defending your life status at family Christmas dinners – and in the end the inevitable sense of being lost in a life and in a city you actually love.”
