The eighth series of Så Mycket Bättre wrapped earlier this month in Sweden. And it turned out to be a top-notch series, even by the programme’s own high standard (I mean, come on). That’s thanks largely to the cast, which included Eric Saade, Icona Pop, and Kikki Danielsson. And of course the fact that eight seasons in, the more pop orientated of the acts know exactly how much hit potential there is in the programme, and so get to work on producing the most Spotify and radio friendly cover versions possible.
One breakout star from this year’s series has been Sabina Ddumba. Having previously released just one album and five singles, she was a surprise name when the line-up was announced. But in terms of Spotify plays, radio adds, and YouTube views – she’s been the biggest success of series eight of Så Mycket Bättre. And that’s been because of what she’s contributed.
The big highlights have been her complete reinventions of Uno Svenningson’s ‘Vågorna’ and Eric Saade’s ‘Manboy’. Plus her stunning version of Kikki Danielsson’s ‘Varför är kärleken röd’, and her first dabble in dansband – with Sven-Erik Magnusson’s ‘Två mörka ögon’.
Sabina has now released an album onto Spotify, featuring all of her recordings from the show. so if you’ve yet to get acquainted with them – now’s your chance. And also below, you can watch all seven of her live performances from the series.
