Oh. My. God!
Best news of the (albeit young) month so far – Anne-Lie Rydé is back with a new album! Not just that, but she’s gone all dans band on us! Her new album ‘Dans På Rosor’, released in Autumn, will be an album of cover versions of old Swedish dans band classics. Amazing! For the uninitiated, dans band music, when it’s good, is like a more organic version of the camp schlager music we write about on here a lot. It’s DEEPLY unfashionable in Sweden, and reserved for the elderly, and perhaps the less discerning young listener. But we love certain elements of it. It’s a genre that we keep meaning to explore further and further, and will at some point soon, seeing as how there are so many albums of the artists on Spotify. And it’s a discovery that we’re certain is going to uncover lots of gems! Swedish people that we’ve discussed this with, have actually laughed in our faces, but we’re fine with being uncool when it comes to music! As Alexander Bard once said to us – ”your taste in music sometimes reflects as if NOTHING has happened in pop music for the last 20 years………but we love you anyway”! Thank you Alexander.
Back to Anne-Lie though. We’re mega excited that she’s back. We love her voice, her character, her attitude, and her WTF outfits that she wears for gigs these days. We’ve listened to clips of all of the tracks from the new album, and are looking forward to having most of them in full. The album will be launched with lead single, ‘Du Har Gjort Min Gråa Värld Till Guld Igen’. But our personal favourite, based on the clips, is the balls out schlager fest that is ‘Höga Berg Djupa Hav’.

And of course, no Anne-Lie Rydé post would be complete without this piece of pure pop performance magic below,
