So back in the year 2000, Aqua’s second album ‘Aquarius’ was running out of steam beyond the release of the first two singles ‘Cartoon Heroes’ and ‘Around The World’. A further two singles and videos were released in Scandinavia – ‘Bumble Bees’ and ‘We Belong To The Sea’ – and a fifth single was planned but then cancelled. That fifth single was to be ‘Freaky Friday’, and a bunch of remixes were commissioned too. But due to ever diminishing returns with each release, the whole thing was canned. Until now! As 2017 marks the 20th anniversary of the release of their debut album ‘Aquarium’, Aqua are up and at it again. Touring around Europe, and releasing new remixes of their classics (check out the Svenstrup & Vendelboe remix of ‘Roses Are Red’ which was released earlier in the summer). And now this. They’ve unearthed the ‘Freaky Friday’ single – from the cover art to the remixes – and they’ve given it an official release. And for an extra retro rush, one of those remixes comes courtesy of Eiffel 65, and is amazing.
