The Nordic lands have proved to be ever reliable when it comes to putting forward an ethno-pop banger for consideration to be entered into the Eurovision Song Contest. Sweden gave us Timoteij, Denmark Emmelie De Forest, and Iceland Greta Salome. Now Finland have given us Emma. And more specifically, ‘Circle of Light’ – which is in the running (along with nine other songs, all profiled here) to represent Finland at this year’s Eurovision Song Contest. It’s our pick of the bunch, thanks to it being a certified, poptastic, drum-banging, whistle-blowing, ethnic belter – that would quite clearly look and sound amazing on the Eurovision stage, and hopefully take Finland back to that final. In the meantime, we’re gonna be playing this a hell of a lot.
You can find ‘Circle of Light’ in our Best New Pop playlist.
