Here’s the new single from Tone Damli Aaberge. Some might remember her from early 2009, when she competed in Norway’s Melodi Grand Prix. Well, we say competed, but really everyone in that contest was only ever going to be an also-ran to Alexander Rybak’s winning ‘Faiytale’. As it turned out though, Tone did come a respectable 2nd out of 21 songs, and her entry ‘Butterflies’ went on to become a big hit in her native Norway, and a sizeable enough radio hit in neighbouring Sweden.
Those that liked ‘Butterflies’, will surely love her new single, ‘I Love You’. It’s very similar, but not lazily so. In fact, we like the infectious string riff in ‘I Love You’ more than we liked anything in ‘Butterflies’, and we did like that song a lot. It’s perhaps not as catchy as ‘Butterflies’, but it is just as enjoyable, perhaps being one of those songs that take a few listens before sinking in.
